55 colleagues from ExtraPower, a Belgian company specialising in industrial solar parks and charging infrastructure, came to Barcelona for a long weekend for a company trip. Nessout organised everything: hotel, activities, restaurants, transport and on-site guidance. But if there was one day that set the tone for the entire teambuilding weekend, it was the first. The day the group was catapulted from grey, rainy Belgium into the sun, the sea and Mediterranean life in just a couple of hours.

From Grey Belgium to the Barcelona Sun

The group left Belgium early in the morning. Grey skies, rain on the windscreen... a typical Belgian morning, you know how it is. Two hours later, they landed in Barcelona. Blue sky, sun, 25 degrees. We were waiting at the airport and took the group with us. Not to the hotel. Not to a meeting room. Straight to a restaurant on the beach of Barceloneta. The contrast couldn't have been bigger. A few hours earlier, they were still in grey Belgium, and now sitting outside on a terrace with their feet in the sand, the Mediterranean Sea in front of them, tapas and drinks on the table, the sun on their faces and a soft sea breeze through their hair. Laughing together, enjoying together. The company trip had barely started, and you could already feel something happening in the group.

SUP Yoga on the Mediterranean Sea

After the generous lunch and a short walk along the beach, it was time to hit the water. On the programme: an initiation in SUP yoga. Stand-up paddleboarding and yoga at the same time. Most people in the group had never stood on a SUP board or done yoga. Let alone the two things together. So that was promising! And it was exactly what you'd expect. White skin sees sunlight for the first time in months. Muscles most people had forgotten they had. Wobbly balance, plenty of splashing, and above all: an incredible amount of laughter. From grey and rain to fun on the Mediterranean Sea. You could see it on their faces: this is why you go on a company trip. For the moments when colleagues enjoy something together that they've never done before.

Cocktail Dinner on Barcelona's Most Beautiful Rooftop

In the evening, we went to one of Barcelona's most beautiful rooftop terraces for a spectacular cocktail dinner. A stunning view over the sea, the old port, Montjuïc and the old town. Part of the rooftop was reserved exclusively for our group. I'll let you in on a fun moment I always enjoy immensely: I always walk onto the terrace first, with the group behind me. The view is so spectacular that behind me, I only hear "wows" and "ohhhs." Everyone is always incredibly impressed. That's what I do it for, of course. It became an evening the people of ExtraPower won't quickly forget. A cocktail dinner with the city at their feet. The CEOs giving a short speech. The team delivering an extended thank-you speech to the CEOs. More than a company, it was a family standing there enjoying the moment. I told the CEOs that too.

And The Company Trip Had Only Just Begun

After that unforgettable first day, the group enjoyed plenty more. Cultural visits in the city. Sightseeing tours past Barcelona's most beautiful spots. An exclusive excursion on a private catamaran on the Mediterranean Sea. And a party night at one of the best disco restaurants in town, where everyone danced until the early hours.
